Silly Myths about Relationships That Everyone’s Heard Before
When it comes to the topic of relationships, there are always some myths that everyone has heard. Let’s look at a few of them:
“If it’s meant to be, it’ll just happen”
Nope. Not even a little bit. Relationships take work and intent. You cannot just go through life believing that you can just sit there and a partner will magically appear in front of you simply because you were “meant to be”.
This goes double for those who are already in a relationship yet do not want to put in any effort in restoring good faith. If you mess up, it would be important to own up to it, apologize, and actively aim to amend your mistake.
“You should never go to bed angry”
This myth was perpetuated by people who love to badger other people. When you make a mistake, it is often best to give your significant other some space. While this does not mean that you should not try to talk to them, if they tell you that they’re not ready, it is important to respect that.
No one should be pressed to make up simply for the sake of “not going to bed angry”.
“You should know what you did wrong”
Have you ever had that experience where your loved one is mad at you but you have no clue why? Then all of a sudden, you’re supposed to know what you did wrong. This is honestly one of the silliest relationship myths still alive today.
The erring party isn’t a mind reader. You will actually need to use words to tell them what they did wrong or how they can make up for it. Those who are immature cling to the notion of “you should know what you did”.
Relationships require work and everyone has their own rules. Don’t fall prey to silly myths, okay?
